Miley Cyrus makes a pledge to purity

In today's world this is a great testimony. As Miley strives to remain pure until marriage, her very public comments actually help her personal cause. There are a few things that she understands and holds in great value here:

Sex before marriage opens up issues that are not healthy both physically and emotionally. When romantic relationships end, they rarely end well and all the more so when sex is involved. You have shared something with someone that is the most personal and intimate part of your being and now that person has "moved on". In addition to that there are the dire physical ramifications of unwanted pregnancy, abortion and serious sexually transmitted disease. Sex is always a life changing event and all to often those changes are devastating.
When sex is involved in a relationship before marriage, you take your mind off of what is important in your life. That physical relationship preoccupies too much of your thoughts and focus. In Miley's case, she is on top of the entertainment world and it is great that she is focusing on that. For the "average teen" - they should be focusing on academics, sports, college, building life long friendships, etc - not sex.
Abstinence supports purity. Having a pure mind helps us see situations with a more discerning, caring and hopeful eye. It allows us to focus more on what we can do to make the world a better place. That's the ultimate goal - to have a pure mind, a pure heart and a pure spirit, that's what purity is all about. Being as pure as we can be puts us more inline with God's will for our lives and helps us to be everything that we can be. Sex before marriage and all the time it preoccupies in our minds causes a lot of valuable time to simply be wasted.

There's a time for sex and it is really wonderful. Follow God's path and you won't be disappointed. Many of today's brightest young stars like Miley, the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato all understand this important principle.
